About the Südcafé in Leipzig
The Südcafé is a meeting place for refugees and the neighborhood in the Südvorstadt in Leipzig. The Südcafé stands on the three pillars: encounter, togetherness and networking. We want:
1. Enabling encounters …
... simple and in a pleasant atmosphere between refugees and neighbours, old and new-established Leipzigers, young and old, people with and without families, people with and without a migration background as well as in the communities and across municipal boundaries
2. Promoting togetherness
Labels such as "refugee", "helper" and "needy" are fading and we meet as people at eye level.
3. Networking
We want to be there, listen to where there is need, be informed about help possibilities and projects and pass them on.
We want to create structures that are reliable and at the same time promote voluntary commitment.
This means always being up to date with regard to projects for refugees through various networking meetings with other providers. In this respect, our meeting place creates space and a nice atmosphere for a lively exchange.
Through our project, we want to enable help from the district and become a network hub. It is important to us to promote the encounter of refugees and people from the district by promoting an inviting, positive mood in our rooms and turning »refugees« into people with faces. Just be there, listen to where the need is, and try to mediate.
The Südcafé is a diaconal project of the Evangelical Lutheran parish in the south of Leipzig. It is supported and promoted by the Ev.-Luth. Landeskirche Sachsen, the Integrative Measure of the City of Leipzig and the Leipzig Foundation. The commitment of our volunteers is funded by the Saxon State Ministry and Consumer Protection.

Südcafé for Kids
Yay, now the Südcafe is also available for children: Südcafé for Kids.
We invite children to play, talk, get to know each other and exchange ideas for two hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We have been doing this for adults for a long time, now we have two rooms just for children. The room for homework help, reading, handicrafts and other quiet activities and the room for action and movement. If it's possible, we're outside.
Like the Südcafè, the Südcafè for Kids is an open offer. We see who is coming and what is desired.
We are happy about people who want to participate and contribute their ideas, just talk to us.
